In the TV series, Dan Humphrey is the teen poet who serves as a moral compass for the privileged and often wayward prep school socialites. He is in love with Serena van der Woodsen, whom he has always had a crush on. He and his sister Jenny are the middle-class kids of former rocker, Rufus Humphrey.
